We're back from the first hunt!.

Well-

We made it back from the first hunt. Things went well, considering we got all screwed up on our months. I thought we were hunting in September. Turns out, I think we're actually hunting in mid July! It was smokin' hot! The weather was crazy and it really seemed to quiet down the elk. We did get some great bulls, and even a little white tail buck.

No real crazy stories- we sent a bull back to North Carolina with Ron Cooley, and another bull back to Minnesota with Jon Emich. Congratulations, guys. A job well done.

We're going back in on Sunday with another group that's all fired up to keep the ball rolling. It's been a busy fall for us. I managed to catch Alan's football game last night, and we'll all get to see Paige run in the Mountain West Invitational Cross Country meet on Saturday... and we'll get in another football game that morning.

Wow- times are crazy and life is short.

Talk to you all soon!

Happy trails.

One more thing...

Just another thing to share with you. Thought you may like this photo- it's just a shot of my son and I at Hahn Creek, doing the dishes after breakfast. It's always a treat to have your kids at work with you.

See you in the hills.

The season's upon us.

I rode out of camp this morning with the Ice Man... Brandon Ice. For those of you who know him, he's been one of our best guides over the years, but we thought he wouldn't be with us this year. Guess we were wrong. The Ice Man is back! Anyway, he and I rode out this morning to finish up some things around the ranch. It was nice and cold, and clear as a bell. And, we saw some bulls on the trail. I think that's a great omen.

I would like to voice my relief and satisfaction that the Montana wolf season is finally a reality. It is time to let the states manage the wolves, and maybe we can get a handle on this situation before it gets too out-of-hand. We're not seeing any wolves in Hahn Creek right now, but it could happen any time.

Enough of that- we have a good season ahead of us. We have a really strong crew, camp is up a ready to go, and everybody is excited.
Talk to you soon.

Just another day at the office!

Today is our first day of blogging. I hope this will be a great forum for old friends to stay in touch and new friends to share their experiences. With the rapidly exploding computer age upon us, I will like mess this up, but bear with me. Dave... I hope I did this right!
See you all in hunting camp!
Happy Trails.
